Freelance Projects: Digital Heritage Conservation (2019-Present)
In August 2020, I worked for Factum Foundation as part of a two person team scanning Anthony Van Dyck’s Philip Herbert, 4th Earl of Pembroke, with his Family. Described by Tate as Van Dyck’s “largest and most ambitious work”, the painting measures 330x510cm, and is displayed in a bespoke frame inside Inigo Jones´ majestic Double Cube room.
In February 2020, I was formed part of a small team scanning objects from the Ray & Diana Harryhausen Foundation Archives. Using photogrammetry, we captured and processed the iconic Hydra, Harpie, Skeletons and the Kraken models made by Harryhausen for Jason and the Argonauts.
The scans were used by Revenant TV to create animations, 2D and 3D content in the Ray Harryhausen: Titan of Cinema exhibition at the National Gallery of Modern Art in Edinburgh.
In August of 2019, I formed part of a team from Factum Foundation which carried out 3D capture of each of the seven Raphael Cartoons. The cartoons are several metres wide, requiring the use of two of Factum’s Lucida scanners at once, and a round the clock schedule. The project also involved coordinating with film crews, V&A curators, Royal Collection staff and contractors from Momart. The project was featured in the BBC Two documentary series “Secrets of the Museum”.
