My classmates and I developed a new immersive digital display for the Burrell Collection museum in Glasgow. I was responsible for designing the user experience, defining the technical and physical specification, developing the prototype, and evaluating usability. My design combined massive gesturally-controlled projections with linked content on the visitor’s own device. These large displays provided a much more immersive canvas for content with museum artefacts projected at +1:1 scale. Webpages accesed via QR codes guided visitors to related objects around the museum.

Accessibility was paramount: many visitors would be using a gestural interface for the first time. My design guides visitors through the display through simple visual cues without text.  Following an initial presentation, we were invited to present the project to a larger group of curators and technologists at Glasgow Museums.

23-F  (2020)

On the 23rd of February 1981, Spain's fragile new democracy faced its toughest challenge. Two hundred civil guards led by Lieutenant Colonel Antonio Tejero stormed into the Deputies' Congress, taking everyone inside hostage for over eighteen hours in an attempted coup de etat. Early in my 2nd year at art school, I built an interactive timeline of the 23-F, detailing the events that took place and the key figures involved, combining archival sound and video recordings with original assets and materials created in Quixel Mixer.

Giles’s Room: VR Experience (2019)

For my final project of first year, I developed a virtual reality experience for the HTC Vive, allowing users to enter my uncle’s bedroom and interact with the many curious items he has collected over the many years he has spent living across the world.

Users can move through the space in VR, pick up and examine objects using the Vive controllers and read about their history. All of the items were modelled in 3DS Max and textured using high-resolution photographs of the original items. The GSA later used the project in promotional materials and social media advertising for the BSc Immersive Systems Design degree.
